u3a - Third Age Trust AGM

Notification

The Company Secretary, Iain Cassidy, gives notification of the date of the Annual General Meeting of the Third Age Trust 2026 to allow member u3as to prepare for the meeting.

The 43rd Annual General Meeting of the Third Age Trust will be held on Wednesday 14 October 2026 at The Midland Hotel, 16 Peter St, Manchester M60 2DS, as a hybrid meeting allowing delegates to attend in person or online.

Details on how to access the meeting online, for both voting delegates and non-voting delegates, will be shared with u3as in due course.

This does not constitute the formal notification as outlined in Article 13 of the Articles of Association of the Third Age Trust. The formal notification will be issued after any resolutions and amendments have been agreed and accepted.

Resolutions for the 2026 AGM

A resolution has been submitted by a u3a which will go to a vote of the membership at the AGM. In accordance with Section 7 of the AGM standing orders u3as can submit amendments to this resolution. Amendments will only be accepted if they do not introduce new matter and are not a direct negative of the original resolution.

The Board may decide to merge amendments to form a composite resolution with the same intention as the original amendment. The Board may invite the relevant u3as to consider amalgamating similar resolutions or amendments.

Proposed resolution

This AGM calls on the Third Age Trust Board to conduct, within six months, a formal consultation with u3as on Trust involvement in advocacy, campaigning and public policy outside the promotion of lifelong learning, education and support for member u3as.

The Board shall publish the responses together with a reasoned statement of its conclusions and proposed actions by 1 May 2027, and report to the 2027 AGM on how those conclusions have been acted upon.
