Feminist Discussion Group
This is a discussion group for us to come together each month to explore issues of specific concern to women. It's an opportunity for us to express our thoughts, raise questions and learn from each other. Member participation will be important, though not obligatory, and the monthly discussion topics will be chosen by the group as a whole. We will discuss a diverse range of topics including ageing and ageism, health, housing options and social care needs, stereotypes and images of women (including “age appropriate” clothes and anti-ageing products), older women in books/films/television… and growing old disgracefully!
The group will spend much of each session in break-out rooms with 5-6 members in each, enabling easier discussion in a Zoom context as well as making it more sociable. The whole group will then come together for our last 20 minutes to share feedback from the smaller group discussions and decide on future topics.
We have some ground rules to remind us to maintain a friendly, supportive environment and ensure that everyone who wishes to speak feels able to do so.
When
Meeting on 4th Tuesday of the month, 3 pm–5 pm.
