'Getting Involved Research Guide'.  

This booklet has been written for U3A members who may be interested in getting involved in research, including those who feel they have no research experience. It can also be used as a resource by U3A Research Project Advisers to provide training and guidance. Paper copies of the guide can be obtained free of charge from National Office.

'The Ethical Implications of Getting Involved in Research'

This advice sheet provides some ethical guidelines to support ayone engaging in research. 

U3A National Research Database

This database records any research that involves the U3A, whether the research is done by members of the U3A itself, in partnership with an external organisation (as in most SLPs) or whether U3A members participate in research as assistants or research subjects. External studies of the U3A are also included. 

The database facilitates access to research results and other researchers, identifies research opportunities, and highlights the research capabilities of the U3A.The database is easily searched by topic, region, type of research project, and where relevant the name of any partner organisation.

It’s an ongoing task to assemble this material and we rely on members telling us about research that they have taken part in. Check to see if your project has been included and if the details are complete and correct. 

Ideally, we would like: a short description of the research; the U3A(s) involved, Country/Region and network; the external partner(s), if any; the date of the research; the name and contact details of the project leader (names and email addresses will not be visible to users). Please also list any outputs such as a booklet, map, database, CD/DVD, sound recording, website, presentation or exhibition and how to find them if they are still available.

Sources Online

Sources showcases the variety of learning and knowledge at the heart of the U3A movement, including many examples of SLPs, research with universities and other enquiry-led learning.

Issued as a supplement disseminated with Third Age Matters until February 2019, Sources is now primarily an online resource filled by user-generated content.
Each month the articles are archived, but accessible via hyperlinks on the right-hand side of the screen.
