February 2021
![]() 'Inside' by Cath Simpson of Wigan u3aMy photographs are normally all outdoors - landscape and wildlife - but during lockdown, I took the chance to try some new subjects. Really enjoyed setting up and taking this shot of mince pies being dusted with icing sugar, with Christmas decorations in the background to add some extra warmth and atmosphere ![]() 'Soap Bubble' by Robert Reeves of Camelot u3aSoap bubble slowly freezing after settling on a sedum. ![]() 'Freezing Rain' by Dick Glazier of North Cotswold u3aPerfect sunrise light and colour with the trees coated in freezing rain. ![]() 'Brown Ash Keys' by Sue Salmon of North Cotswold u3aTaken in January 2021 on a frosty, misty day. A big positive of "Lockdown" has been the extra time available to go out walking locally and to use the camera to look at the "little things" rather than just the big picture. I just love the hoar frost on the brown ash keys and empty stalks. ![]() 'Frozen Lake' by Brian Moore of Belfast u3aI was informed that the lake at Hillsborough Forest Park had frozen over so I gathered my camera etc and went to see it for myself. It was amazing to see a lake nearly completely frozen and with all the debris on top. The swans and ducks were limited to a very small area ![]() 'Fading Flowers' by Alan Iyall of Leigh Estuary u3aAfter a heavy frost even fading flowers can look lovely in my garden ![]() 'Sun Through Clouds' by David Lees of North Cotswold u3aA view of the North Cotswolds taken after a light snowfall with the morning sun reflecting through the clouds ![]() 'Frozen Puddle' by Andrew Smith of North Cotswold u3aTaken on a winter walk and I liked the patterns it made with the ice colours surrounding it ![]() 'Robin' by Derek Oakley of Droitwich Spa & District u3aLooking for food on the first day of snow. ![]() 'Winter Beauty' by Lynn Toms of North Cotswold u3aOne of the beauty’s of winter, a frozen spiders web. ![]() 'Lake Bled' by Tessa Philips of Potters Bar u3aSeveral years ago we went to Lake Bled in Slovenia for a new year break and the walk around the lake in the snow was magical. These boats were available to ferry people to a little island in the middle of the lake. (Boatman photoshopped out) ![]() 'Day's End' by Richard Taylor of Leicester u3aDay's end. Walking with the sunset at my back I snapped some underlit clouds on my phone. Inspired by the work of Saskia Boelsums, I used extreme processing to create a dramatic. non-naturalistic effect. She does it much better! ![]() 'Winter Wetland' by Lesley Thatcher of White Cliffs Country u3aWinter wetland on a golf course by the sea in Deal Kent. Beautiful. |
