'Broadway Tower' by Sue Salmon of North Cotswold u3a

'Broadway Tower' by Sue Salmon of North Cotswold u3a

A local and iconic landmark that I have photographed many times but this is the first time I have tried to obscure it from view.

Just a GLIMPSE, is it safe to come out?

'Break through' by Jill Cornwell of Hartley Wintney & District u3a

'Break through' by Jill Cornwell of Hartley Wintney & District u3a

A glimpse of the sun trying to penetrate the fog on a winter's morning at our local 13th-century church.

My cat glimpsed me stroking my partner's cat, and put me in the doghouse!

'Towers in the mist' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

'Towers in the mist' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

On a cold January morning, a temperature inversion had trapped a huge fog bank over the Tay estuary. As we walked along the south bank of the river the grey wall of fog moved northwards across the river, gradually revealing the muddy shore and a few wading birds, then the water and some navigation buoys. Suddenly some colourful structures appeared briefly high up in the fog. As the fog continued to move we had had fleeting glimpses of these towering structures, jack-up drilling rigs being refurbished 2 kilometres away on the north side of the estuary at Dundee port.

'Puddle' by Rosemary Gibbs of Rugby u3a

'Puddle' by Rosemary Gibbs of Rugby u3a

I was standing on the tarmac at a quiet country crossroad junction, when I glimpsed a touch of sunshine at the edge of a bank of cloud reflected in a large shallow puddle. It was raining and there was a cable above my head and I liked the arrangement of elements above and below the water's surface and the ambiguity of the white road marking.

'Reflections' by Janet Rutter of Devizes & District u3a

'Reflections' by Janet Rutter of Devizes & District u3a

On walking through town, I paused to look at this interesting window and glimpsed the 2 different aspects of the opposite side of the street in the reflection.

'A Barred Gate' by Jim Melville of Balsall Common u3a

'A Barred Gate' by Jim Melville of Balsall Common u3a

Whilst out for my constitutional walk along a country lane I caught sight of this metal gate almost hidden by overgrown shrubbery.

'Springtime' by David Talbot of Banstead u3a

A brief glimpse of a rainbow before it disappears.

'Old letterbox' by Gerard Hayes of Witham & District (Essex) u3a

'Old letterbox' by Gerard Hayes of Witham & District (Essex) u3a

I glimpsed this Victorian letterbox hiding behind long-established ivy. Most of its red paint is long gone revealing a green undercoat. I assume that the letterbox was originally put there for the residents of the large house to which the brick wall belongs. What post did it receive all those years ago?

'5 star review' by Brian Snelson of Hockley & Hawkwell u3a

'5 star review' by Brian Snelson of Hockley & Hawkwell u3a

A potential resident trying out our new bird box. Just caught a glimpse of him.

'Across the valley' by Barbara Lansdell of Todmorden u3a

'Across the valley' by Barbara Lansdell of Todmorden u3a

A glimpse of Heptonstall across the valley from my house just before it completely disappeared into the mist.
