'Soft Centre' by Jonathan Bye of Sutton Bridge u3a

'Soft Centre' by Jonathan Bye of Sutton Bridge u3a

This aeonium succulent plant is the soft centre of grit and hard-baked terracotta.

'Lighthouse' by Frank Hill of Castle Bromwich u3a

The interior of the Withernsea Lighthouse from the top deck looking down to the lower deck, with a touch of vignette.

'Under Coaster' by Jonathan Ruddle of Hartley Witney & District u3a

'Under Coaster' by Jonathan Ruddle of Hartley Witney & District u3a

This photo is taken looking down at a circular floor light through a glass coaster. The glass has a pattern formed of air bubbles. The propeller effect comes from overlapping coloured discs underneath the coaster.

'Laundry Centre' by Ian Weatherley of Witham & District (Essex) u3a

'Laundry Centre' by Ian Weatherley of Witham & District (Essex) u3a

Although probably not the usual way to look at the centre of a washing machine drum, I just love the way that its complex design creates such a wonderfully abstract image (as well as getting our washing clean).

'The Centre of Attraction' by John Hope of Bracknell u3a

'The Centre of Attraction' by John Hope of Bracknell u3a

These flowers have been attracting the bumblebees for a few days now, and the plant seemed "The centre of attraction" and a worthy candidate?

'Timeless content - competing formats' by Bob Douglas of Edinburgh u3a

'Timeless content - competing formats' by Bob Douglas of Edinburgh u3a

A CD on a record player. When digitally recorded CDs replaced vinyl, our record collections and stereo systems become museum pieces. But streaming services have largely replaced CDs, and vinyl is making a bit of a comeback. The music may be timeless, but which format is old-fashioned now?

'Stocks' by Jim Bartlett of Cardiff u3a

'Stocks' by Jim Bartlett of Cardiff u3a

These stocks are one of the most photographed features of Cardiff Castle, but not normally from this angle. Visitors usually get their friends and family to stick their head and hands in the holes, or they frame the Castle keep in the centre one. The orange blob is a life-belt container on the side of the moat.

'Centre of the Eye' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

'Centre of the Eye' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

This rabbit decided it was invisible and remained stationary as I approached. If you look closely at the centre of it's eye you can see my reflection.

'Pencils' by Peter Marrs of Droitwich Spa & District u3a

'Pencils' by Peter Marrs of Droitwich Spa & District u3a

When holding a small selection of coloured pencils I noticed the Yellow pencil in the centre protruding more than the others, this idea created my submission photo.

'Chandelier' by Gabrielle Summerhays of Farnham u3a

'Chandelier' by Gabrielle Summerhays of Farnham u3a

I was fascinated by the patterns in this chandelier in the Royal Palace in Vienna when seen from the centre underneath.

'Door' by Ian Coldicott of Sutton Coldfield u3a

'Door' by Ian Coldicott of Sutton Coldfield u3a

A shop doorway with some flaking blue paint and the word 'centre' makes a bold image.

'Onion' by Janet Rutter of Devizes & District u3a

The centre of this red onion looks beautiful and too good to eat!

'Wind Axis' by Rosemary Gibbs of Rugby u3a

'Wind Axis' by Rosemary Gibbs of Rugby u3a

My sunshine wind sculpture has a calm and steady central axis around which two sets of blades whirl in opposite directions when the weather is gusty. My garden centres me when issues clamour for attention and I can identify with this piece which has provided a focal point for over ten years.

'Cotton Reels' by Chris Parnell of Bracknell Forest u3a

'Cotton Reels' by Chris Parnell of Bracknell Forest u3a

These jolly cotton reels have provided endless fun for my two daughters and their children for many years. Although the lace is long lost, the reels can be threaded, stacked, rolled, sorted, or counted. I played around with the orientation and chose to turn the centre reel opposite to the others. The lid has a small circular ridge perfectly centring the seven reels into a 'flower', which has a white centre. Naturally, I chose red, white and blue!

'Kaleidoscope' by Derek Oakley of Droitwich Spa u3a

The centre of a Kaleidoscope.
