Learning in the u3a movement

Theme is 'Green'

'Yellow & Blue' by John Totten of Devizes & District u3a

I made this image using some old printer inks, yellow and blue, with a vague recollection about additive colours in school art lessons.

You couldn't get much greener than these frogs (or maybe they are toads) in the aquarium and, yes, I can confirm that they are alive.

A chance discovery of moss growing on a wall undisturbed for many years and having the good fortune to a camera with me.

'Green Star Light' by John Owen of Worcester Area u3a

'Green Star Light' by John Owen of Worcester Area u3a

These strange shapes were on display at RHS Wisley’s Winter Glow exhibition. Two ‘stars’ amongst many floating in the darkness, together with a myriad of coloured lights throughout the grounds, brightened up a crisp January evening. There can be few better places to think ‘green’ and protect our precious flora and the fauna it supports.

'Winchester Guildhall' by Harry Borgerson of Monks Brook u3a

'Winchester Guildhall' by Harry Borgerson of Monks Brook u3a

Winchester Guildhall was lit up in green as part of the 2022 'Winter to Spring' light festival. The light trail started outside the Great Hall and finished in Abbey gardens, providing lots of opportunities for night-time photography.

'See Green' by Brian Moore of Belfast u3a

This is the St. Brendan boat which is in the coastal town of Portaferry. I decided to make it black and white but leave the boat green.

'Stationary Stationery' by Ken Jones of Calverton & District u3a

'Stationary Stationery' by Ken Jones of Calverton & District u3a

This was taken in the summer of 2020 during the lockdown when our photography group monthly competition occasionally featured colours. I tried to pre-empt 'Green' but with no luck!

'Mount Stewart Woods' by Patricia Moore of Belfast u3a

Photography was taken in Mount Stewart National Trust Estate. I was walking through these dense woods and the greenery was spectacular.

What a joy to see the beautiful Green Woodpecker on my lawn on such a bleak morning.

'Teasels' by Ian Weatherley of Wiltham & District u3a

The vibrant colour of these teasels seems to make them really 'zing' against the background hedgerow.

A backlit macro shot of a rose leaf shows the intricate vein structure.

'The Green Planet' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

'The Green Planet' by Mike Taylor of Dundee u3a

I know global warming is bringing seasons earlier but I wondered about the “Green Theme” in winter, surely spring would offer more potential subjects. But then I opened the fridge door and there it was in the bottom drawer, “The Green Planet”.  Not David Attenborough’s version, but the lemon seems to have developed a green map of the earth.

'Swimming Upstream' by David Bender of Chiltern u3a

This drake caught my eye as it was swimming upstream against the current that was flattening the underwater plants

'Serve At Room Temp' by Steve Black of Northallerton u3a

The Northallerton u3a Photographic group's latest theme was bottles, so I left these two green wine bottles out one night when there was due to be a sharp frost and this was the result.
