Learning in the u3a movement

I made this image using some old printer inks, yellow and blue, with a vague recollection about additive colours in school art lessons.

You couldn't get much greener than these frogs (or maybe they are toads) in the aquarium and, yes, I can confirm that they are alive.

A chance discovery of moss growing on a wall undisturbed for many years and having the good fortune to a camera with me.

These strange shapes were on display at RHS Wisley’s Winter Glow exhibition. Two ‘stars’ amongst many floating in the darkness, together with a myriad of coloured lights throughout the grounds, brightened up a crisp January evening. There can be few better places to think ‘green’ and protect our precious flora and the fauna it supports. 

Winchester Guildhall was lit up in green as part of the 2022 'Winter to Spring' light festival. The light trail started outside the Great Hall and finished in Abbey gardens, providing lots of opportunities for night-time photography.

This is the St. Brendan boat which is in the coastal town of Portaferry. I decided to make it black and white but leave the boat green.

This was taken in the summer of 2020 during the lockdown when our photography group monthly competition occasionally featured colours. I tried to pre-empt 'Green' but with no luck! 

Photography was taken in Mount Stewart National Trust Estate. I was walking through these dense woods and the greenery was spectacular.   

What a joy to see the beautiful Green Woodpecker on my lawn on such a bleak morning.

The vibrant colour of these teasels seems to make them really 'zing' against the background hedgerow.

I know global warming is bringing seasons earlier but I wondered about the “Green Theme” in winter, surely spring would offer more potential subjects. But then I opened the fridge door and there it was in the bottom drawer, “The Green Planet”.  Not David Attenborough’s version, but the lemon seems to have developed a green map of the earth.

The Northallerton u3a Photographic group's latest theme was bottles, so I left these two green wine bottles out one night when there was due to be a sharp frost and this was the result.
