Theme is Red, White and Blue

'Hot Lips' by Edwin Wallace, Sidcup u3a
I took this photo of the salvia Hot Lips in my garden last week.

'Little Egret' by Angela Owen, Worcester Area u3a
This is the first time I’ve seen an egret. As I was excited and fascinated by my discovery and his movement, I was thrilled as he waded in the blue of the river into an area where the reflection from a red boat made my photo. And here it is – my photo – a study in red, white and blue!

'Queen Street' by by Robert Piper, Norton Radstock, and Wells
This Red, White and Blue Jubilee photo absolutely had to be taken on 2nd June, and as the Town Crier in Wells, Somerset confirmed this to be the date, I took a short walk up Queen Street to see the celebratory shop window displays in the town. This arrangement in the hardware shop window took my eye, and after a bit of adjustment and cropping, I achieved the resulting image. Unfortunately, the Red Arrows, with their signature Red, White and Blue smoke trails didn’t visit Wells on the day, so this is my submission of the essential, the useful and the mundane items, all in Red, White, and Blue of course.

'Corfe' by Tina Sheppard, Balsall Common u3a
This was taken at a pub in the village of Corfe, Dorset. I thought the scene was so English portraying a typical village pub during the Jubilee Weekend.

'Stationery' by by Colin Sugars, Furness u3a
After hunting all round the house for not only the right colours but also objects that were also connected to each other, I came across these brightly coloured, fully connected objects and decided that these met the criteria.

'Heels' by Tessa Phillips, Potters Bar, Herts
I saw these lovely shoes with the wonderful heels, incorporating the red, white and blue theme, in a local charity shop. However, I dread what they might do to my feet if I can pluck up enough courage to wear them.

'Reign or Shine' by Ian Weatherley, Witham & District (Essex) U3A
We came across this wonderful arrangement of umbrellas during a recent visit to Durham. Not only did they provide a gloriously colourful street decoration for the Queen's Jubilee but also provided some much appreciated shade from the hot June sunshine.

'Portland Bill Lighthouse' by Roy Morton, Sidcup u3a
Portland Bill Lighthouse, Dorset taken against a glorious blue summer sky.

'Union Jack cake' by Julie Gilson, Long Eaton and District u3a
Tasted as good as it looked like?

'Ladieswear shop window' by Jim Hay, Southport u3a
One of the classiest examples I saw during the Jubilee. This ladieswear shop in Birkdale dressed the whole window at one side of the shop with this image. The Union Jack is cut out in the shape if the Queen's head to reveal the model in the window. Very striking image and a very effective window display. I have cropped just to the image itself rather that the whole window frame to get the effect.

'Celebration Drinks' by Dennis Gibson, Helston & District u3a
Taken as part of a topic on glass this was shared with our Digital Photography group.

'Concord' by Paul Wallis, Sutton Coldfield u3a
I though that this image of the tail of Concord really did mark the end of the supersonic passenger jet travel. I especially loved the red, white and blue colouring.

'Tewkesbury' by David Roby, Mawdesley u3a
On a fleeting visit to Tewkesbury I went into the 12 century abbey and was drawn to the beautiful ceiling of the nave, decorated in its red, white and blue livery and ornamented with gold.

'Fishermens' Huts' by Lynne Birchall, Mawdesley u3a
This photograph was taken on a recent holiday to Norway. They are the huts used by the fishermen many years ago. I felt that their colours stood out so prominently from the surroundings.

'Three Cars' by Robert Edmondson, Dorking u3a
I noticed the three cars in the appropriate colours when walking past the car park of a public house in Dorking and took the photo to emphasise the red, white and blue.
