Theme is Summer

'Ice Cold Pimms' by Peter Marrs of Droitwich Spa & District U3A
I have pondered over my 'Summer' submission, I looked up the definition of Summer "A period of hot, usually sunny weather" (We had no real summer last year!) What thoughts or images did this conjure up in my mind - Bucket's & Spade's, Sandy beaches, Scones and cream with jam, Umbrella's and raincoats and of course the obligatory traffic jams!! Not for me thank you, but a nice relaxing Ice cold glass of Pimm's on the lawn and enjoying the peace and tranquility with birdsong in the background all within our own garden.

'Kayaking' by Jennifer Kidd of Dorchester & District U3A
I thought a photo of this tranquil kayak trip along Penpol Creek off the River Fowey in Cornwall would make a lovely record of our short break taken when some lockdown restrictions began to be lifted.

'Enjoying the Summer Sun' by Jim Melville of Balsall Common U3A
These meerkats had nothing better to do than lazing in the summer sunshine at Castle Ashby Gardens near Northampton.

'House Martin' by Barbara Lansdell of Todmorden U3A
Nothing says summer's evening to me more than seeing house martins flitting around the village school where they nest each year.

'Foraging bee' by Kathleen Smith of Turriff & District U3A
I loved the yellow of the flowers and the business of the bee collecting its nectar. Just makes you think of summer.

'Summer Picnic' by Chris Adams of Stubbington U3A
A Summer picnic at a very local waterfall.

Summer by Christine Lewis of Wyre Forest & District
Beautiful summers day in Cirencester. What a pleasure to see all the potted plants so artistically presented.

'Sunflowers ' by Marion Clark of Newquay U3A
Summer Sunflowers are the embodiment of summer, with their bright, yellow petals and tall green stems.

'Cornflowers' by Brendan Gillan of Ballymoney U3A
‘Little cornflowers’ My favourite summer flowers

'Cabana Beat' by John Owen of Worcester Area Group
I caught our bear sunning himself with his new exotic friend, both grooving to the summer beat of streaming music. They put in an order for cocktails and nibbles – of course I had to comply. I’m quite jealous really!

'Butterfly' by Carol Andrews of Haywards Heath U3A
I enjoy trying to capture photographs of butterflies, bees and other insects during the summer months. It is quite a challenge as they never seem to settle for very long!

'Meadow' by Janet Oakley of Droitwich Spa & District U3A
One of beautiful English meadows in summer time.

'Landscape' by Rosemary Gibbs of Rugby U3A
Last week I stayed with my "Bubble" family in Taunton enjoying longer walks than I would try on my own at home, leaving my heavier camera behind to enable me to keep up. I used my iPhone, which has a huge depth of field, to record this complex landscape which greeted us after we had come down from Castle Neroche on the Herepath.

'Wildflowers' by Steve Morris of Morpeth U3A
A colourful patch of bee friendly wildflowers

'Beach Huts' by Graham Wood of Sidcup & District U3A
Taken on a recent trip to Eastbourne. Despite the dark clouds looming in the background for effect, it was a gloriously sunny day. I loved the perfectly kept, colourful beach huts awaiting their owners arrival.
