Members of the Video and Media Group at Barnsley U3A have won in three categories at the Huddersfield Film Makers Club Annual Awards.

Dave Shaw, Phil McNulty and Peter Higginbottom collaborated on two projects – Men in Sheds in Barnsley for Barnsley AgeUK (Highly Commended), Barnsley Main Heritage Group (Commended), and Peter received the Novice Award for his individual entry, Barnsley Pals on the Somme, for BLTV ( Barnsley Local TV )

Peter, a member of Barnsley U3A for more than 10 years and the coordinator of the BU3A Video and Media Group said, “We were all delighted to win awards for our work especially as they are judged by an independent film maker.

“It felt strange winning the Novice Award as I have been in making videos for over 40 years! But the award was for a first time winner of a Huddersfield Movie Makers award.

“This year there were over 25 entries to the competition which has given us real confidence in our work”.
