Walking Cricket is just like the real thing except you aren’t allowed to run and the ball is softer.

The growth of walking sport is enabling third agers to get back to playing the sport they love and has been exploding in popularity in U3A. Other groups like Walking Football, Walking Netball and Walking Rugby springing up in U3As all over the country.

An avid cricket fan, Mac has previously played in the army and Bradford League. Mac is now U3A National Subject Adviser and is helping other groups to set up around the country.

He said, “To say I am shocked is an understatement! I hadn’t a clue I was being nominated.

"My efforts are down to the Walking Cricket Group U3A members and how we are all working together to promote the sport. The nomination is a bit humbling but will help raise the profile of U3A and Walking Cricket".
