u3a members are continuing to share stories and photos of birds with us even as members start to return to face to face meetings of their groups.
Don, South Leicestershire u3a, spotted a Male Kestrel enjoying his lunch at Delapre Abbey in Northampton in June this year. While waiting for the red arrows to fly over Don also spotted this pair of buzzards.
Ivybridge u3a member Jan saw both a Mallard Duck and a Mandarin Duck (left to right) at Stover Park, Newton Abbot in September this year.
Wendy, Furness u3a, took this picture in September 2021. A family of red-legged partridge have taken refuge in Wendy’s garden after being released from the shoot on the other side of the fell. They come regularly to Wendy’s ground bird feeder but are dainty eaters and lovely to see strutting around the garden.
Arun West u3a member Robert told us that quite a few parent birds apparently have decided to use his garden as a nursery! Robert’s not complaining.
Robert has also photographed these beautiful magpies.
