Our Photography Initiatives

Over the past few years, we’ve run two photography initiatives as part of our online national learning offering. These aim to inspire both occasional photo takers and passionate photographers alike.

Our ‘Found In Nature’ initiative encourages u3a members to submit photos of the weird and wonderful things they find in nature – whether that’s an intricate spider web, rare species of wildlife or an interesting looking plant. We’ve had some great images sent in of the natural world, all of which can be viewed in galleries on our website

Our ‘U3A Eye’ initiative is a photography competition with a new theme each month. This is judged by u3a members, including our photography subject adviserThe photos are judged not just on photography skills but on the creative interpretations of the theme, and the top 15 are then displayed in our online gallery

Please share these initiatives with your local photography groups and share them amongst your friends and networks, encouraging engagement with u3a photography on a national level.

A few u3a members have shared their engagement with these initiatives. You can read group stories in the gallery below.
