Two woman who met and became friends through Sale U3A in Greater Manchester have teamed up to appear in two BBC TV Antique competition shows - winning on both occasions.
Jose Anderson and Nicole Smith shared a love of collecting antiques and over the last few years have appeared together on day time TV in the quiz shows - For What It's Worth and Bargain Hunt.
Answering questions to win the value of an antique of their choice, For What It's Worth, hosted by TV star Fern Britton, saw the pair win an amazing £400 each.
A year later after passing a series of auditions and interviews the friends were selected to take part in the BBC's Bargain Hunt – where teams of two are given £300 and one hour to buy antiques to try and make a profit at auction. The U3A amateur antique hunters were yet again crowned the winning team.
Jose Anderson was one of the founding members of Sale U3A, which celebrated its 25th anniversary this year, said, "In 'For What It's Worth' I was the person answering the general knowledge questions and Nicole had to use her expertise to pick the best antiques. We were thrilled to win and find out the antique urns were worth so much money.
"Bargain Hunt is now such an iconic TV show and it felt great to be part of it. Behind the scenes it is very busy – they film four sets of shows in one day! There is a lot of waiting around, but you are very well looked after in 'the green room' with as much fruit, coffee and biscuits as you want.
"Expert Thomas Plant helped us on the day and while we didn't make any profit from our selection, we lost less money than the other team, so we still won!
"Nicole and I are thinking about applying for another show – so watch this space – we may make it a TV winning hat trick".
For What It's Worth aired on 11th January 2016. Bargain Hunt was hosted by Anita Manning and aired on 10th March 2017.
