We live near the Hatton Lock Flight, sometimes referred to as 'the stairway to heaven' and also travelled through its 21 locks quite regularly when we owned a narrowboat. We had various friends to help us over the years, assisted others through the flight as well as managing it as a couple alone. It brings back happy memories of these experiences hence wanting to paint it.

This painting takes me back to the days when my grandfather used to take us to Richmond Park. I was always rather apprehensive of these beautiful animals. Especially in the Autumn Rut.
'Autumn Woodland' by Ron Smith, Grimsby and Cleethorpes
