IGO Zoom account bookings
I have extended all IGO Zoom account bookings until the end of December 2026. I am attaching a timetable for June 2026 (there are technical reasons to do with Zoom that I have not done a December 2026 calendar). It would be helpful if you can check this to make sure your meeting(s) are included here in case I have accidentally missed it/them out. If so, please let me know, and I will make the necessary corrections.
Group Leaders Meeting
Our next group leaders’ meeting will be held on Wednesday, 12th November at 3 pm.
IGO Fair
We have reserved a space in the National Online Learning Events program for an IGO fair for:
- Wednesday 11 February 2026
- Thursday 12 February
with spaces available both in the mornings and afternoons.
The fair is designed to act as a taster for IGO to attract potential members and to let the world know about our online u3a community. The sessions will be open to both existing u3a members as well as any non-members who might be interested.
We would love to have a wide variety of IGO groups represented, so if you would like to offer a session during the fair, please could you send a brief description of what you would like to do? We suggest time slots of 45 or 50 minutes, including a brief introduction to your group and how it is run, a taster of the content and a short time for any questions. We would be open to a whole range of ideas.
Zoom on older Windows devices
From December 2025, Zoom will only support 64-bit versions of Windows. This may make it impossible to use Zoom from a 32-bit desktop or laptop using any version of Windows.
If your desktop or laptop uses Windows 10 or 11 from its initial purchase, you will, most likely, not need to make any changes. If you are using Windows 7 or earlier, you may encounter problems. Computers which are affected will most likely have been purchased before 2013. To check a device using Windows 10 or 11, open Settings → System → About and look for “System type.” If it says 64-bit, you will not need to make any changes; if it says 32-bit, you will probably need to upgrade.
We hope that advance warning will help to avoid problems. Zoom is crucial to how much of IGO works and we would not want to lose any members because of this change.
Reminder: updating Beacon and website group pages
Group leaders can update the information on the Beacon details page themselves. If you want to change your web-oage entry, you should submit the Group Description form.
Calendars
Beacon calendar
The Beacon meetings calendar for December is attached. Members can view this from the Beacon Members Portal. Please note that entries here do not appear automatically – they have to be generated by the group leader using the “Schedule” tab in Beacon.
IGO Zoom calendar for November meetings
This is attached. If your meeting is not listed here, please let me know, and I will check it out.
IGO Zoom calendar until June 2026
As noted above, you can check that your meetings are booked until June 2026. Here is the link.
Generic Zoom calendar
The Generic Zoom calendar shows which slots are booked to each of our Zoom accounts.
This calendar should not concern you unless:
- You want to change the time or day of your group meetings, and need to check when there are free slots, or
- you do not currently use an IGO Zoom account and want to see when you could have a slot.
Note that Zoom accounts 2 and 3 allow two meetings to run at the same time.
Note that I add 30 minutes to the length of each meeting in this calendar in case meetings overrun, and also to allow people to join meetings 15 minutes before the start time
Thank you
To all our group leaders for your sterling work!
