New Group - Seated Shibashi
Gentle, seated and very effective exercise, Shibashi, is a group of 18 movements. (Shibashi is Mandarin Chinese for 18 movements.) Each movement is repeated. It is so simple, you can do it the first time you see it.
It is designed to improve flexibility, reduce stress and promote well-being. It can be done standing or sitting. Wear comfortable clothes and slip-ons, slippers or similar.
The best seat for seated Shibashi is a sturdy, stable stool or dining chair. You need to be able to move your arms freely and your feet a bit. Ideally, the stool or chair should be a height that allows you to stand with ease if you choose to stand.

Interest Groups Online Fair 2026
We are planning a 'Fair' to take place in early 2026. This will be a chance for members and prospective members to get to know what's on offer from Interest groups online – there will be a variety of tasters for people to enjoy. This note is, by way of, an early ask to spark you and your group's interest in providing one of the tasters – we will keep you posted with the confirmed dates shortly – but for now be thinking about how you would like to promote your group.
What wines should you eat with what food?
The wine appreciation group at its meeting in September will be discussing the joys of pairing food with wine. Why not email us with a three course menu for four – of your choice – for us to debate which wines would be good possibilities –

Share your Language Skills
Do you have a working knowledge of a foreign language?
We are looking for IGO members who can help to run Language groups – similar to Spanish: Buen Provecho – these groups would not be traditional grammar based courses but would provide opportunities for members to learn useful phrases and practice their pronunciation – so if you have a working knowledge of Spanish, Italian, French or Portuguese, why not help to offer to help with a group. We have potential groups for all these languages, and it would be much easier to get them going if there was someone in the groups with some knowledge of the language. Please contact us at

If you are a group leader with a padlet do you know how to check how many views your padlet has had? Open your padlet and go to the row of three dots at the bottom of your right hand margin. Click and choose 'Details' from the list of options to see your stats.
