Theme is: Window

'Secrets' by Salim Quraishy, Harrow u3a

A window can have so many secrets....if you look through one.

'Looking In' by Liz Octigan, Stone u3a

This picture is painted in acrylic paint. It was inspired after reading Virginia Woolfs book The lighthouse. She often uses windows in her writing as a symbolic device, characters can observe and reflect on the inside and outside world. She uses the window to look in on to the domestic setting. My painting looks into a room with a vase of dahlias on its windowsill. Dahlias were some of Virginia Woolf's favourite flowers.

'Plants' by Shirley Mountain, Chesterfield u3a

Digital sketch, completed on a Samsung tablet.

'Aigues Morte' by Yvonne Paddy, Storrington u3a

This is a window I painted in my sketch book in Aigues Mortes , (South of France) using ink pen and watercolour. Aigues Mortes is a medieval walled city where there are shops , restaurants and houses and dates back to the 12 th Century

'Contrast' by Elizabeth Oakley

I was inspired by the contrast between the angular shapes of the window panes and the curving shapes of the ceramic. Windows are fascinating as the source of (natural) light in any situation. Thus creating the atmosphere in the room.

'Ortigia' by Elaine Adams, Northallerton u3a

This is a photo of a window of a ruin in Ortigia Sicily.

'Newquay' by Janet Amor, Bradford on Avon u3a

I was inspired to paint this picture while in Newquay as the hotel had this view over looking Fistral beach from the dining room. We could sit and watch the people enjoying the beach and surfing.

'Light through the Window' by Jean Mead, Saffron Walden u3a

Our group was working on the project 'Light through the Window', and I was struck by the strong contrasts created by the sunlight.

'Changes' by Mayya Krasnova

Chelsea oil on canvas 50x40. Looking at the houses by the Thames, one can imagine a calm and cozy family life. Yet, just like the river’s swift current, life constantly changes. This painting reminds us that everything moves fast — so we must cherish the moments while we can.

'St Alban's Museum' by Kath Cape, Whitley Bay u3a

This window is in St Alban‘s Museum in Hertfordshire and I was struck by the contrast between the plain, white walls inside the museum, and the colourful bricks and the busyness of the buildings outside the window. Painted in watercolour.

'Window to the soul' by Susie Shaw, Hawkwell Village

‘Window’ this theme made me stop and think , and the idea I can up with was: Eyes are regarded as the Window to the soul. : so here is my take on that .

'America' by Maisie Parker

This is a mixed print media piece based on images taken on a visit to America.

'Nature's window' by Dennis Parkinson, Northallerton u3a

Watercolour and pen.

'With a touch of red' by Ian Weatherley, Witham & District (Essex) u3a.

A pen and watercolour image of an old metal-framed window, made slightly more 'cheerful' by addition of the vase of flowers.

'Window Shopping' by Angie Stanbury, Haslemere u3a

Window shopping and dreaming there was a time.
