"My passion for wildlife was stimulated by a school field trip to the Welsh coastal town of Solva, which included a boat trip to the Islands of Skomer and the Gannet colony on Grassholme. Although my career took a different turn, into technology, I never lost my love of wildlife, especially everything that flies. I regularly monitor the moths in our area, and am an active member of Butterfly Conservation and the RSPB.

I led u3a wildlife groups in East Suffolk and following our move to the Scottish Borders, the Duns and District u3a. I look forward to my role as u3a subject advisor for wildlife and hope I can help establish wildlife groups in u3as across the UK.
