VE Day - your stories

Published : 20 May 2020 Views: 3148

Many of you have been sharing your stories of how you marked the 75th Anniversary of VE Day this month in inventive ways whilst socially distancing.

Bolsover District U3A produced a webpage dedicated to members experiences of VE Day 1945, and subsequent anniversary celebrations. It includes personal stories and photographs of street parties, medals and service men and women as well as sharing recipes that might have been eaten on the day.

U3A member Helen opened the French doors and gave a short harpsichord recital for the neighbours.

Other members used art - Hazel from Norton Radstock U3A, painted a pastel of a poppy to put in her window in memory of her Father who served in the Far East for 4 years during WW2.

Frances from Leigh Estuary U3A painted two pictures comparing the high street now to it in 1945.
