Mindfulness and Poetry for Wellbeing

A meeting of mindfulness and inspiring poetry to support our health and wellbeing.
These sessions introduce mindfulness and compassion practices alongside poetry and expressive prose.
Each session considers an aspect of mindfulness alongside two or three related poems or short readings. There is time for group participants to suggest and share, reflect and discuss in a safe, friendly and inclusive space.
Using mindfulness, we become quiet and receptive, experiencing the words through the body, heart and mind.
Poetry and mindfulness create a sense of common humanity. A shared feeling or experience connects us to each other and the world around us. It is human to meet difficulty and distress at different times in our lives. It can be supportive, enjoyable and healing to come together and share the pain and joy of living.
Themes: nature, living with change and loss, acceptance, joy and beauty, connectedness.
The group is welcoming and suitable for beginners or the more experienced alike. Support will be offered throughout.
Helen Potts is a Mindfulness UK-trained teacher and has several years of experience leading groups in Mindfulness Meditation and Compassion. She enjoys exploring the therapeutic potential of combining poetry and mindfulness in her own life and through her teaching.
