We are delighted to share our new film featuring Croydon u3a's Tai Chi group where members Paulette and Chris share the positive impact that u3a has on their wellbeing.
Within the film, the members explain that the meditative nature of Tai Chi enables them to unwind. Paulette explains, "Tai Chi is all about very slow, very controlled movement, and I think that's what I like about it."
In addition to the calm found within the Tai Chi group itself, the members also talk about the community they have found within u3a. Chris says about the impact u3a has had on his life, "You do get the feeling of belonging, and it does take away the loneliness. It’s sort of a little family, isn't it?"
The group follow YouTube videos, learning the practice of Tai Chi together. This is an example of the non-formal learning model that is unique to the u3a environment which sees members learning from and with each other. The film is the latest in the "Share Something Brilliant Today" series which showcases skill sharing within u3a. Other videos have showcased Chichester u3a's Practical Science group, the u3a Fashion Subject Adviser who supported the creation of Kenilworth u3a's Fashion group and Southport u3a's involvement with the Southport Flower Show.
