u3a 40th Anniversary

We should celebrate this special year
To show our appreciation to the u3a
For their concept of how to learn together
In a unique and friendly way

They gave us the idea of learning groups
That members choose and run
Which encouraged us all to develop skills
In an environment of fun

There are lots of us with special skills
That many would love to know
It would be great if these were shared
Because they would love to have a go

They encouraged us to stay active
And make the most of every day
To meet people with the same interests
And form friendships along the way

We now have the opportunity
To learn and train online
Or be inspired by free events and talks
If we can spare the time

I know I speak for all of us
When I chose to speak of ‘we’
But I honestly believe that everyone
Will celebrate and agree with me
