Coming from a military family I have always had a keen interest in all things military. The Home Guard has fascinated me for some time stemming from a childhood love of Dad's Army. Through extensive research and a collection of period artifacts I hope to dispel some of the myths that still persist

Formed in 1940 the Home Guard quickly became the largest unpaid army in the world - ever! Typically portrayed as weak, old men we discover the true story of Dad's Army. Using period artifacts we show what an effective fighting force they came to be and the real effect they had on the war effort.
