Festival tickets

What is the cost of Festival tickets?
The cost for a three-day ticket is £50. You can also buy individual day tickets for £18.
I have a friend who is not a u3a member – can I book for them to attend too?
Unfortunately, due to the popularity of the Festival, this event is only open to u3a members.
I have booked my accommodation – does that mean I have a ticket to the Festival?

Entrance tickets to the Festival are separate from the accommodation bookings. We recommend  booking your ticket to attend the Festival before you book your accommodation. 

Festival programme

When can I book Festival events?

We are working on the Festival programme at the moment and hope to have this available to book in March/April. All members that have booked to attend the festival will be notified by email when the programme is ready for booking.

Accommodation

I want to book accommodation to stay on site at the University of York – what is available and how do I book?

There is limited on-site accommodation at the University of York available. The accommodation is single en-suite student accommodation offered on a bed and breakfast basis. No double rooms are available. On-site accommodation is managed by Mosaic Events. For any enquiries, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. I have booked a ticket to attend the Festival but the accommodation on site no longer has rooms available – where else can I stay?
York is a major tourist city and there are lots of alternative options available. We recommend the South East of the city where the university is situated.
I want to cancel the accommodation I have booked – how do I cancel this, and will I receive a refund?  

The accommodation provider, Mosaic Events, offer partial refunds on bookings on cancellations up until Tuesday 26 May. The amount is depending on when the cancellation takes place.

  •   Cancellations received between Friday 30 January 2026 and Thursday 26 February 2026 will receive a 70% refund minus a £15 administration fee 
  • Cancellations received between Friday 27 February 2026 and Thursday 16 April 2026 will receive a 50% refund minus a £15 administration fee 
  • Cancellations received between Friday 17 April 2026 and Monday 25 May 2026 will receive a 25% refund minus a £15 administration fee 
  • Unfortunately we cannot refund any cancellations received after Tuesday 26 May 2026.

We always strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance in case you need to cancel your booking due to unforeseen circumstances.   

Cancellations

What happens if I can no longer attend the event? Will I receive a refund for my ticket?

We can refund Festival tickets up until Sunday 31 May, however there will be a £5 administration fee.

From Monday 1 June, we can only offer a refund if the ticket can be reallocated to another u3a member who is on a waiting list.

Unfortunately, after Monday 29 June, we will be unable to offer refunds.

Getting to the venue

How do I get to the venue?
The University of York campus is at Heslington, York, YO10 5DD. The Festival will be taking place in the Roger Kirk and Exhibition Centres. These are about four miles southeast of the city centre.
Is there a car park on site?
There is a large car park on site - members will need to pay parking charges during weekdays, but parking is free between 6pm and 8am and on Saturday.
What is the nearest train station and how can I travel from here to the York Campus?
The nearest mainline train station is York Station – this is approximately 4 miles from the University of York campus. There are taxis outside of the station or you can get a bus to the campus.

Facilities

What catering facilities are available on site?

There are various options of catering on site.

There is a restaurant on site which offers sit-down buffet-style lunch and dinner in the evening. There is also a café on site, available for sandwiches and tea and coffee. In addition, a small coffee shop is available during the day for tea/coffee and snacks

What other costs do I need to budget for?

Most activities will be free of charge but there may be a nominal charge for craft or sports activities where leaders provide materials or need to hire sports areas. There will also be some external tours available which will need to be booked and paid for separately. You will need to budget for your travelling and meal costs.

Accessibility

I have accessibility requirements – how can I inform the accommodation department?

If you require a ground floor room, accessible room or have special requirements, please ensure you include these details at the time of booking accommodation. Please note there is a limited amount of ground or accessible rooms available.

Please also include this information when booking your Festival tickets.

I have dietary requirements – who should I let know?

Please let us know any dietary requirements when booking your accommodation so we can ensure suitable breakfast options are available. We also ask that you note any dietary requirements when booking event tickets. While food is not included with tickets, it’s important for us to be aware in advance.

I have additional accessibility needs - will I be able to attend the Festival?

We want to ensure that every u3a member who wants to attend the Festival can.
