Third Age Matters Talks to Pam Ayres

Published : 08 September 2020 Views: 4301

The poet Pam Ayres has told u3a that creating well loved poetry isn't as easy as it looks.

The interview - in the Autumn issue of our members' magazine Third Age Matters - includes Pam talking about her love for hedgehogs and her dislike of restaurants serving food on anything but a plate.

With her Australian tour cut short because of coronavirus and her UK tours postponed, Pam has found herself back at home enjoying her garden which she created with 'the last hedgehogs' in mind.

“My priority has been to make it a wildlife garden, so there are plenty of piles of wood where they can live, a pond where they can come and have a drink and I don’t use any pesticides in my garden so on damp evenings the lawn is covered in worms for them to eat,” she says. “I do see hedgehogs and so do my neighbours. They probably think I am the batty old hedgehog woman.”

Read the full interview in the Autumn issue of Third Age Matters, out on 14 September.
