At the start of October, Interest Groups Online (IGO) held a free online Fair which anyone could attend. There were 14 taster sessions attended by a over 400 people - a mix of IGO members, u3a members and prospective members.
With topics ranging from Climate Change to learning Recorder and to Armchair Archaeology, there was something for everyone. The Fair gave just a flavour of what is available through membership of IGO and the 90+ groups it offers.
An attendee gave some lovely feedback for the Exploring Classical Music taster session;
“Thank you for this morning's Classical Music session which, as someone with a long interest in Classical Music, I appreciated very much. I look forward to attending several other IGOs [taster sessions] this week, and then will decide on one or two topics less familiar to me to pursue in the future.”
Leader of the Laughter Yoga group Judith said;
“I enjoyed it enormously and a lot of people joined my group as a result. I think the Online Fair is a great idea and should be repeated. It gives people a chance to sample lots of groups without committing themselves.”
Over 100 new members joined Interest Groups Online in the week that followed, and hopefully some of them will be able to contribute in the form of leading a group, or helping to lead a group.
We hope to see you all at an IGO group soon.
