Launched in 2008 the CACH project works with local care homes to arrange events to enhance the quality of residents’ lives and encourage their inclusion in meaningful activities. This includes performances by local musicians and school children; reminiscence sessions with small groups and life story work with individuals.

In the last decade, over 50 U3A volunteers have been involved in CACH and the current team has 13 members working on the project.

CACH was awarded an amazing five accolades over the years including in 2017 the Outstanding Achievement in Health and Wellbeing at the Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise (SVE) Awards.  It has received funding from Foundation Scotland and the Bank of Scotland Foundation.

Chair of CACH Project, Susan Tester from Forth Valley U3A said, “It is a wonderful thing that this project has been going for ten years and we were delighted to be able to celebrate it with many of the people who have made it happen.

“The anniversary event included care home residents and the Braeport memory café for people with dementia and their families. We were delighted to have music from 11 talented young musicians from Stirling High School.

“We have been so fortunate that each CACH team of U3A volunteers has been dedicated and hardworking. Thank you to them and to everyone who has helped make CACH a success.

“We are always grateful for new volunteers and looking forward to the next ten years!”
