Our theme for September 2022 was 'Celebration'. Thank you so much for everyone who took the time to enter our u3a eye competition in September, and look forward to seeing what your entries look like for our October theme of 'Rust.'

'Wedding Celebrations' by Chris Parnell, Bracknell Forest u3a
My brother married just before he became a pensioner, to a smashing lady who had organised a very special wedding. It was a fantastic day which culminated in this display. Fireworks are tricky to photograph and I was delighted to see this composition and clarity. It really does reflect the celebratory day we had all enjoyed so much.

'Let's share our Celebrations' by Heather Quiney, Dunmow u3a
Almost every celebration can be enhanced with chocolate and this selection seemed most appropriate.

'Celebrating the Pumpkin!' by Angela Reid, Balsall Common u3a
A new season to celebrate, and always find the sight of a bright orange pumpkin amongst the foliage a delightful sign of a plentiful harvest to come. Of course pumpkins come in all shapes and sizes!

'Celebrating Freedom from Duty' by Ursula Gardiner, Leigh Estuary u3a
On the seafront at Southend-on-Sea on a sunny day this black Security dog was enjoying the fun of the fountain and trying to catch the dancing spray and taking a drink.

'Celebration of Psychedelic Magic' by Angela Owen, Worcester Area u3a
There was a small tower of lights pulsed to music at the local summer festival, and I was mesmerised by the lively colourful display of the reflections on a nearby pond. As well as a local community celebration, this image for me conjures up an individual’s celebration of an internal psychedelic magical experience!

'Warriors' by John A Totten, Devizes u3a
Every year on the East coast of Spain they celebrate "Moors and Christians" and re-enact the victories of the Moors from N. Africa.
These fearsome warriors are as you can see all masked, and therefore annonymous, and I think circumvent the no people rule

'Paisley Fireworks Spectacular' by Dace Praulins, Trust u3a
Fireworks are always a good way of encapsulating celebration, and Paisley, in Renfrewshire, always puts on a good show for Bonfire Night.

'Confetti' by Tessa Phillips, Potters Bar u3a
I saw the confetti in celebration of a wedding on the bride's beautiful train which added to the lovely occasion

'Celebrating Spring' by Tom Gallagher, Lanark and District u3a
A blackbird in my garden alerting the world to the coming abundance like a Town Crier.

'Golden Celebration' by Richard Wimbush, Norton Radstock u3a
The pendant was a gift to my wife for our Golden Wedding anniversary. I like the heart for love and the entwined Celtic knot to celebrate our 50 years together in love.

'A Celebration of the Evolution of Flight' by John Owen, Christchurch u3a
The Red Arrows put on a fantastic display at the recent Bournemouth Air Festival, but it seems this seagull clearly wanted to remind us that birds conquered the air long before technology evolved to enable us to join them.

'Fireworks for the Jubilee' by Christine Middleton, Dunmow u3a
The local firework display celebrating our late Queen's Jubilee earlier this year was a photo opportunity not to be missed. Using a monopod and a 2 second exposure, I caught the four 'explosions'.

'Cel-ebrations yeah OK' by Colin Sugars, Furness u3a
A personal record of a few of the celebratory events during my life

'Celebrating 50 Years Reopening Special' by David Mogg, Mawdesley Villages u3a
On 29th June 2018 the Worth Valley Railway celebrated fifty years of operation. The Railway ran the 'Reopening Special' on the same day and at the same time as the first train ran in 1968. The locomotive (41241) and also two of the coaches were also part of the first train. The train is crossing Mythomes Viaduct on the line.

'Celebrate the Rain' by Janet Rutter, Devizes & District u3a
The arrival of the rain is cause for celebration after such a long dry period. These colourful umbrellas seem to capture the moment.
