Off the Wall

u3a members from all over the UK came together on 10 May 2023 to celebrate Hadrian's Wall and the influence that the wall has had on our creative lives.

The Festival of Learning included guided walks, cycle rides and tours of the spectacular remains of the Vindolanda Roman fort.

Highlights from the day

Dr Rob Collins, Senior Lecturer in Archaeology at Newcastle University and Dr Andrew Birley, CEO & Director of Excavations at The Vindolanda Trust, gave fascinating talks, sharing their knowledge of the wall with u3a members.

There were guided tours of Vindolanda and lots of fringe activities throughout the day.
