In the 1960s I worked in London alI week as a secretary in an advertising agency and at the weekends I belonged to a concert party where we visited old peoples' residential accommodation with a mixture of dance, songs and sketches.
The company was started by members of the Homeguard during World War II and it had, amongst their members in the very early days, Bob Monkhouse and Bill Pertwee. By the time I joined the group at the age of about 19 they were both on their way to fame but some of the older members of the group were still organising the shows.
